While machine translation does handle a fair number of genres quite well (such as typical marketing texts or, surprisingly, legalese), there’s still no substitute for experienced professionals with a sense for all the nuances of language, who understand context and tone, humor, euphemism, metaphors, slang, and so on. Artificial intelligence has yet to master translation of meaning as opposed to words. 

At Oculus Media, we’re not Luddites, either: we do use translation software tools to ensure consistency and quality – and to allow us to focus on the finer aspects of translation where there’s still no substitute for humans.
